This is one of the hardest things to plan for when going camping. It’s always a difficult task to figure out how you’ll be eating out in the wilderness for however long you’re out there. There are plenty of items you could bring on a camping trip for cooking, but we want to make it as easy and simple as possible. Here are some of the essential items you should consider bringing:
Cooking
First and foremost, you’ll need a camping stove and fuel. Now, you don’t necessarily need this because there are ways around this, especially if there is a fire pit where your site is going to be. If you’re building a fire, then you’re better off bringing an over-the-fire cooking grill. These are easy to travel with and cooking over a wood fire makes for delicious camping meals.
Along with that:
- Matches/lighter/Firestarter
- Frying pan and cook pot/lid
- Pot holders
- Cooking utensils
- Multi-tool
- Sharp knife
- Cutting board
Don’t Forget These Items!
The ones people forget are sometimes some of the most important ones, so don’t forget!
- Plates/bowls
- Mugs/cups
- Eating utensils
Make sure to pack garbage bags as well because after eating, you’ll want to throw everything away and either put it in your trunk for the next day or haul it out right away. You don’t want bears coming around.
Storage is very important when cooking when camping. This means you’ll have to plan for that as well each night you spend camping.
